"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." - Isaiah 43:19

What a journey we've shared together! As I sit here this evening, reflecting on the incredible response to The Salty Pages collection, my heart is overwhelmed with gratitude. Your messages, your comments, and your enthusiasm for these stories have been such a gift to my author heart. Thank you for celebrating this milestone with me—finishing that collection felt like such a full-circle moment in my writing practice.
But as one season closes, another begins. And I'm so excited to share with you what's coming next.
Welcome to The Sunday Sabbath
If you've been following along, you know that finishing The Salty Pages wasn't just about completing a book project—it was about stepping fully into who God has called me to be as both a storyteller and a teacher. While I'll always be a novelist at heart, I'm feeling a growing calling to teach and encourage other faith-based writers who are navigating their own writing journeys.
The Sunday Sabbath represents this new season. This weekly newsletter will be your Sunday dose of reflection, encouragement, and practical wisdom as we explore what it means to live as writers who seek to honor God with our gifts. Think of it as our weekly sabbath moment together—a pause to breathe, reflect, and prepare our hearts for the creative work ahead.
Each Sunday, I'll share devotional reflections that speak specifically to the writer's soul, always anchored in Scripture but addressing the unique joys and challenges of living as storytellers who want our work to reflect our faith.
What's Coming This Week
Starting this Monday, I'm launching a new rhythm of content that I'm incredibly excited about. If you've ever felt like you needed encouragement as a multi-passionate writer, or if you've wondered how to integrate your faith more deeply into your creative practice, or if you've ever struggled with the business side of writing, this is for you.
Here's what you can expect each week:
Mondays: Faith for Writers
This is where we dive deep into what it actually looks like to write from a place of faith. We'll explore how to integrate your beliefs authentically into your writing process, how to steward your gifts well, and how to maintain your relationship with God even when the creative journey feels overwhelming. Tomorrow, we're starting with "In the Beginning Was the Word"—exploring God as the ultimate Creator and Storyteller and what that means for us as His image bearers.
Wednesdays: Multi-Passionate/Multi-Genre Writing
Let's be honest—most of us writers have more story ideas than we know what to do with, often spanning completely different genres! If you're like me and you're constantly torn between writing romance, mystery, fantasy, or literary fiction, this content pillar is for you. We'll talk about embracing your multi-genre interests, managing the creative overwhelm, and building a sustainable writing practice that honors all your storytelling passions.
Fridays: The Writing Life
This is where we get real about the daily reality of being a writer. From the practical craft and business side to the emotional and spiritual challenges of the writing journey—we'll cover it all. Whether you're navigating the publishing world as a faith-based author, figuring out how to balance writing with life responsibilities, or wondering how to find your place in a literary landscape that doesn't always share your values, we'll explore it together.
Sundays: The Sunday Sabbath (This Newsletter)
Our weekly pause. Our moment to reflect on the intersection of faith and writing, to celebrate what God is doing in our writing lives, and to prepare our hearts for another week of faithful creating.
A Personal Note
I want you to know that this shift feels like the most natural thing in the world—and also completely terrifying. There's something vulnerable about stepping out from behind the safety of fiction and saying, "Here's what I think. Here's what I've learned. Here's how I believe God wants to encourage you."
But here's what I keep coming back to: for years, I've been the recipient of so much encouragement from other Christian writers who were brave enough to share their journeys. Now I feel called to pass that gift forward. If my struggles with perfectionism can help someone else embrace their imperfect writing process... if my journey with ADHD and multi-passionate writing can encourage someone else to stop fighting their scattered brain and start leveraging it... if my commitment to clean fiction can inspire someone else to write stories that honor their values... then stepping into this teaching role feels like the most natural evolution of my calling.
New Beginnings
Isaiah 43:19 has been my theme verse this season: "See, I am doing a new thing!" God loves new beginnings. He's always making beauty from ashes, bringing life from death, creating springs of fresh water in dry places.
I believe He's doing a new thing in my calling as a writer, and I have a feeling He might be doing a new thing in yours, too. So let's journey together into this fresh season. Let's explore what it means to write as worship, to steward our gifts faithfully, and to build writing lives that honor both our calling and our need for rest.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for your patience as I've navigated this transition. And thank you for trusting me with your Sunday mornings and your writing journey.
Here's to new things, faithful writing, and the God who makes all things beautiful in His time.
